School Safety & Security Enhancements
The Braintree Public School (BPS) District focuses each day on making sure our students, faculty, staff, visitors and property are safe and secure.
BPS seeks to further enhance school building security by requesting a comprehensive review be completed by an outside consultant and funding recommend enhancements focused on upgraded security cameras, building access control, and emergency notification systems.
Areas of Focus
Safety & Security Review
Hire an external consultant to perform analysis of current school safety and security strengths and weaknesses.
Review physical building safety & security; including review all school building safety and security protocols and equipment, building access controls and emergency planning procedures.
Recommend upgrades to enhance entire district’s safety & security posture.
Security Camera Upgrades
Upgrade Braintree High School cameras.
Add additional cameras to Elementary Schools.
In 2019, BPS received a state grant of $78,000 to upgrade cameras at all elementary schools.
An additional $30,000 in BPS capital funding was used to complete the project for all elementary schools.
East Middle School has received all new cameras as part of building upgrade project.
South Middle School would receive new cameras as part of proposed new building project (pending approval).
Building Access Controls
Upgrade points of entrance and exit at all schools to enhance building access control.
East Middle School has received an upgraded access control system.
South Middle School would receive a new access control system as part of the proposed new building plans (pending approval).
Emergency Preparedness
Further enhance emergency notifications for students and parents.
In-building notifications for students, faculty, staff
Communications via phone, text and email to parents
Security Awareness Training for school faculty and staff.
