Braintree School Food Services is a part of the National School Lunch Program, which regulates school meals to ensure that all children receive the healthy foods they need. As such, students are required to take certain items in order to make a complete meal. Each day at breakfast students are offered grains, fruit, milk and a protein food. Additionally, every day at lunch, students are offered grains, fruits, vegetables, protein foods and milk. Students must choose at least three of these items for a complete breakfast or lunch.
Note: Those students who do not select at least three of the required components will be charged for each item selected rather than for the price of a meal. Individual items are not a part of free and reduced meal prices, so these students would be responsible for payment of these items as well.
The cost of breakfast is $1.25 at all school levels.
At the elementary schools, lunch costs $3.00.
High School and Middle School lunches are $3.25.
No. All of this information is contained within the schools’ point of sale systems. Transactions are completed using student ID numbers, so other students will not be able to identify those receiving free or reduced lunch.
Payments made by check or cash can be sent to your child’s school lunchroom at any time or you can use the self addressed colored envelope included in the August mailing. If submitting a check for prepayment, please write your child’s full name in the memo line so that the money can be deposited into the correct account. Checks can be made out to Braintree School Food Services. Lost cash cannot be tracked back to your child, so if you would like to submit prepayment in cash, please consider sending it in a labeled envelope. Additionally, students may bring in money and make purchases on a day to day basis.
Yes! Online payments are encouraged and can be made by creating an account at www.myschoolbucks.com. In order to create the account you will need your child’s student ID number. Student ID numbers can be found on the address label used for the School Food Service summer mailing, or on the class schedules of middle and high school students. By having money in each child’s account prior to entering the cafeteria, we find the lunch lines move along much faster so your child has more time to eat and be with friends. This service also provides parents the ability to view your child’s account balance, transaction history and receive low balance e-mail notifications through the www.myschoolbucks.com website.
