Energy Savings Project

On February 27, 2018, the Braintree Town Council approved the implementation of an ESCO project for the Braintree School Department. This project will provide significant energy conservation measures to all six of our elementary schools, the Monatiquot School Kindergarten Center, and Braintree High School. With the East Middle School MSBA supported core program project ready to start construction in June of 2018, and due to the MSBA's invitation to the Eligibility phase for South Middle School, these two buildings were intentionally not included in the ESCO scope of work.

Among the items being addressed in the ESCO project are:

  • Building weatherization; steam trap repairs and replacements
  • Installation of expandable Energy Management Control Systems that will modulate heating, cooling, and ventilation
  • Installation of new primary high-efficiency boilers and back-up boilers in several buildings
  • New LED lighting fixtures and occupancy sensors
  • Replacement of 45-year old transformers at Braintree High School
  • Walk-in cooler controls and high-efficiency motors
  • Water conservation measures
