Dear Parents and Guardians.
I can’t believe that April is over. The Sox are back at Fenway (hopefully, winning soon), Celtics and Bruins are in the playoffs and the leaves are beginning to show. Pretty soon spring will be in its full glory. With all of the athletics picking up again (baseball, softball, lacrosse, soccer) please do your best to create a balance and allow for some down time for your children. I know I have been guilty of this in the past with my own children, but it is important that we spend some unstructured time letting them just be kids!
Regarding recess; students want to know if they can bring in their baseball gloves and other gear to play with. As a guideline, if students bring in a glove to play catch with, I ask that they also bring in a soft-baseball or tennis ball. The same basic rule holds true for any items brought from home, they must be safe. Also, they will be responsible for taking care of whatever they do bring in.
Regarding curriculum issues for the month of May; Grades 3, 4, & 5 will be taking MCAS Math, with each grade taking two sessions. Also, grade 5 will take Science (please see the attached calendar with the testing dates).
We have a number of concerts, field trips, and other activities that will be taking place during these last two months of school. Please be sure to check the attached calendar for any events that may involve your child. As always, we will do our best to notify you of any upcoming events both through our telephone message system and daily notices and of course our website.
Also, on Memorial Day Weekend we will be making another large donation of clothing from our lost and found.
