Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

BYOD, Student Loaner Devices, & Family Loaner Devices

As you consider your family's use of a BYOD device, please keep our Network & Technology Responsible Use Policy in mind.

Grades 5 to 12

Loaner Devices

If you require a loaner device as opposed to bringing a personally owned one, please visit your school’s Media Center during the school day to sign one out. For checking out loaner devices before the start of the new school year, please refer to the most recent Technology ParentSquare notification.

Please be sure to view the Chromebook care document (link).

If you will be purchasing insurance for the device, please bring cash or a check made out to BPS Tech Dept for $50.

Personally-Owned Device

Personal (BYOD) Chromebooks do not need to come to the school to get online with their device - they can be logged into using the student's BPS account at home and will connect to the network automatically when they return to school.

Grades K to 4

Loaner Devices

Loaners are available for families with a Kindergarten through 4th grade student if they do not have a device for the student(s) to do homework on. This is limited to one per family. Parents can request a loaner for their household via the Family Helpdesk.

Please be sure to view the Chromebook care document (link).

If you will be purchasing insurance for the device, please bring cash or a check made out to BPS Tech Dept for $50.

Personally-Owned Device

Students in Grades K-4 do not need a BYOD device. If they have a BPS Loaner Device, it does not need to be brought to school and should be left at home. Devices will be provided in school when necessary for classroom learning.
