We would like to encourage your child to become involved in the Braintree School intramural program. The purpose of intramurals is to provide students the opportunity to participate in a variety of recreational activities after the regular school day, as an extension of the physical education program. Participation in intramurals will not only provide a chance for your child to be active, but will also give the student ample opportunities to make new friends and demonstrate such qualities as sportsmanship, cooperation, and leadership in a supervised and structured environment.
The Braintree Public School intramural program will run after school. There will be intramural sessions offered – Fall, Winter and Spring. Students wishing to participate must report to the sign up meetings to learn when and where the sport/activity will be taking place. Please remind your student to listen for the announcements made for intramurals. The intramurals offered will be posted on the school websites.
Students will be required to sign in everyday they attend an intramural session. They are not required to change clothes, but we do ask that all participants wear court shoes or sneakers.
Appropriate behavior will be expected of all intramural participants. Students may be removed from the program if poor behavior becomes a recurring problem. The Braintree Public School Physical Education staff hopes that you will encourage your child to participate frequently in the intramural program, as we feel that it is the perfect chance for our students to make friends and increase their physical fitness levels.
If you have any questions about Braintree’s Intramural Program please do not hesitate to contact my office.

Students are expected to act in an appropriate manner before, during, and after intramural sessions. In order to fulfill our philosophy of having the maximum number of participants enjoy success in recreational activities we must create and adhere to general behavior guidelines for all intramural participants.
- Students will have the opportunity to participate in any scheduled activity, regardless of skill level.
- Students will be able to choose their own teams and play grade appropriate opponents in various games and activity.
- Students will wait for the supervising teacher to take equipment out of the equipment room.
- Students will help set up and put equipment away when necessary.
- Students will display appropriate cooperation and sportsmanship at all times. At no time will rude or inappropriate comments be tolerated. Students are to encourage rather than criticize or discourage others. Any physical confrontations will be dealt with severely.
Penalties for Misbehaving
Students will be given one or more verbal warnings depending on the severity of the infraction. Students who display continuous acts of unsportsmanlike conduct, rough play, or general disobedience may be asked to sit out that day’s session. The next time that the student exhibits poor behavior, he or she will be denied the privilege of attending intramurals for two days. The third time the student has a problem he or she will be asked not to return to intramural until a parent- teacher conference can be scheduled. It is the responsibility of the student to ask his or her parent to schedule a conference. The administration reserves the right to deal with any situation of misbehavior as they deem necessary.
The Fitness Room is open after school most days. Available hours are updated and posted outside the Fitness Room.
